What goes on at a meeting?

From March to October there is a plant stall at each meeting and members bring plants, bulbs seeds etc to sell in order to raise a bit of money for the Club. People tend to arrive at 7.20 or so at those times so as not to miss a bargain.

There are always two competitions at each meeting. The entries are displayed at the front of the Hall for all to see. One is Flower of the Month – a single flower is displayed in a suitable vase. The flower may be grown inside or outside. The other competition is suitable for the time of year. For example in June it is five stems of roses but in February it is a pot plant. Points are given to the winners of these competitions and trophies are awarded at the AGM to the people with the most points in each category.

At about 7.35 the Chairman calls the meeting to order and introduces the speaker. When the speaker has finished, tea and biscuits are served and this is followed by a short business meeting, the drawing of the raffle and the results of the competitions. That ends the meeting!
